And he won't be back until Friday :(
Meanwhile, here's the highlights...

Meanwhile, here's the highlights...

That first picture was the view of the Bay Bridge from our hotel room. Even prettier at night when it is all lit up. Couldn't get a decent picture of that to save my life though.
Then we went here:

Here's proof:

I had popcorn shrimp for breakfast. BREAKFAST!! And it was good. I would have had the clam chowder bread bowl, but fish can sometimes have unpredictable results on my system. I didn't think spending the day heaving in the hotel bathroom was how I wanted to spend my time. We toured a submarine while we were there. It was fascinating and clausterphobic all in one.
While there, we heard, saw (and smelled) these cuties:

And of course, what is a visit to SF, without a visit to Ghirardelli. Really now, I'm not thick enough to skip that visit.

From there we picked up a trolley ride. No picture of that one (wtf??), but I do have a picture of the wingnut who was "entertaining" the crowd while we waited. Nothing like having a captive audience.

We took the trolley to Chinatown. Right in the middle of the moon festival. The picture doesn't even begin to show the sea of humanity crammed in the streets. I found it interesting that in my trying to be polite and not cut anyone off while navigating the festival, all these little chinese ladies would zoom past me. Eventually, we gave up on the niceties and managed to squeeze through there.

I was fascinated by the fact that in the alleys, everyone had their laundry hanging out to dry. Can you tell I'm a suburban girl that grew up with washers & dryers? I felt compelled to take a picture:

Last but not least we visited The Rock (no, not Dwayne Johnson, the other rock!):

And here I am trying to mug for the camera. What a dork!

All in all it was an enjoyable whirlwind trip. We walked so much on Saturday, I was hurting for a few days. Oh, and we caught the farmer's market and I fell in love with the white plums they had. The best fruit I've ever had. EVER! I wish we had gotten more. We went to dinner at Houston's and dined like real adults.
Did I mention the two full nights of solid uninterrupted sleep? I know now what awaits me in heaven. Sleep and white plums. Now we just have to go back for more than 48 hours.
